About Solvate

Geoff Johnston

Geoff JohnstonWith an itch to join a promising startup, I bid adieu to Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, CA and packed up for the "Silicon Alley" in the fall of 2009. After some time surfing startuply.com, I was lucky enough to stumble upon Solvate and jumped at the opportunity to start working on the company's operations. At Google, I spent 2 years working on the consumer and operational strategy for Gmail and GoogleTalk. Tackling the challenges of scaling Google’s flagship consumer product, I collaborated with engineering and organized product development efforts to drive user growth, user experiences improvements, and monetization strategies.

Before immersing myself in the tech world, I studied the history and literature of Britain and France at Harvard, where I wrote my senior thesis on Fortune Telling in early 20th Century London. While in school, I spent my “free time” managing a non-profit service organization, producing theatre in the American Repertory Theatre, and spent a summer traipsing along the southern coast of France writing for the Let’s Go Travel Guides.

Hailing from Lake Placid, NY, I’m very happy to be back on the east coast and to be a part of its tech community, as well as a founding member of Solvate! I'm a proud member of a generation that's never had a job outside of "the cloud" and am excited to work on pioneering microstaffing as a new way for us to work together in the cloud.
