  • CNET editor Rafe Needleman calls Solvate "a strong effort"

    By CNet.com

Solvate is a contractors' marketplace, along the lines of ODesk and Elance. But it's got a gorgeous Etsy-like interface as well as a very clever option that lets you only see contractors from your LinkedIn network. It'll be tough to fight the established players in this market, but this is a strong effort - Rafe Needleman. Read more >

  • PC Mag's former editor in chief reviews Solvate

    By PC Magazine

Solvate has a staffing engine for connecting companies with consultants and other freelancers. Companies can post a request for a person who can perform a specific task, and individuals can sign up with their information. Then the service will search its database and let you narrow down the search by looking at previous employers, specific skills, and more. It can also be limited to your LinkedIn network, and you can find people who have worked together before. It seems like an interesting concept. Read more >

  • Solvate Raises $2.3 Million

    By peHUB, October 11. 2009

Solvate (www.solvate.com), a micro-staffing firm pioneering a new labor model for business owners and executives to delegate their w ork, raised $2.3 million in Series A financing from DFJ Gotham and RRE Ventures.

“Solvate makes it easy for companies to tap into a pool of experts with experience that is relevant to their business, so they can focus on priority tasks,” said Michael Paolucci, co-founder and CEO (Paolucci also co-founded 24/7 Media, which sold to WPP Group in 2007 for nearly $650 million). “Businesses are already used to buying software as a service. Now they can buy staffing as a service, even in small quantities, when they need it.” Read more >

  • Solvate helps you hire remote office assistants

By Anthony Ha, VentureBeat, October 8, 2009

A lot of us are in a constant battle with busy work, where random administrative tasks end up consuming as much time as the stuff you care about. But not everyone can afford to hire an assistant. Now a startup called Solvate wants to connect people with outsourced assistants who can do this work.

The basic idea is pretty simple. You tell Solvate what jobs you need done, then the company finds the right person for the task, and charges you for each 5-minute increment of work, with a base rate of $25 an hour. Solvate emphasizes doing things your way — you can contact the company via email, phone, or fill out a request form; the assistants (called Timesmiths) work on the software of your choice; and you can log into the Solvate website to see how the work is progressing.
